The table top making taster was very rewarding.  On the day both Dan and Richard were there although Dan lead the course. It was excellently taught. Dan explained about the physical properties of wood, some wood engineering principles, how to use the equipment and how you may use tools that you have at home. 

My expectation was to build a full coffee table, although the table top was smaller and we didn't make legs l would state that l am not dissatisfied with the experience and l enjoyed the day and had a great sense of achievement.  

Dan was very clear, encouraging and friendly.  The facilities are outstanding.  I would recommend this course. It has build my confidence and inspired me to have a go at my own projects.  And as a bonus,  Dan and Richard have offered support for out own projects.

- Class is an "intro to table making" yet you make a large chopping board, which they describe in follow up emails as a "coaster"
- Teacher wasn't instructive, and gave off a "I'm doing you a favour being here" vibe
- They were unprepared for the class, having not prepared the wood
- They complain about wood bought from B&Q, but the class uses...wood bought from B&Q
- They make you provide reviews to get delivery of your item, only mentioned at the end of the class

I understand that we are learning the basics, and it is very clearly explained that you will just be making a table-top as a learning experience - however, I became invested in my small piece and very much would like the option to come back to craft and attach small legs to my table-top to make it a fully functional bit of furniture. Dan mentioned a two-day course they were developing that including making the legs too - if I was given this option to come back a second day to make the legs for my table, I would give this experience 5 stars.

DIY Workshop: Power Tools Course

The Rivershop offers a unique and creative two-part workshop focused on crafting resin charcuterie boards. In the first part of the workshop, you'll dive into the world of resin art, learning about different types of resins and pigments that create stunning effects. With guidance from experienced instructors, you'll master the techniques for mixing and pouring resin, and prepare your mold base and timber to receive the resin. By the end of this session, you'll have poured the resin into your mould, setting the foundation for your charcuterie board.

The second part of the workshop takes place after the resin has cured. In this session, you'll learn how to use power tools to shape and finish your cured piece, transforming it into a beautiful charcuterie board. With personalised guidance, you'll sand, smooth, and refine your board, bringing your artistic vision to life.

This is a two-part course. Once you book your spot for Part 1, we will email you with date options for Part 2. If you’re booking two or more tickets, we can arrange a bespoke date for the second session to suit your group’s availability. Please be sure to secure your preferred date for Part 2 promptly.

The Rivershops’ resin charcuterie board workshop not only provides a platform for artistic expression but also offers a social and relaxing experience. The workshops are designed to be enjoyable and accessible for all skill levels, making it an excellent activity for friends, family, or solo participants looking to learn a new craft. Each participant leaves with a beautiful, handcrafted charcuterie board and a sense of accomplishment, having gained new skills and memories from the experience. Class duration is 1-1.5 hours, while we try to keep to the listed time frame please note occasionally classes can overrun.

We will go through all the steps needed to make your very own, unique resin seascape. Our coastal artwork class gives you a taste of pouring resin by making a set of coasters. 

For the more adventurous among you, we have a variety of additional upgrades available for you on the day. After you've done your coasters, you can turn your newfound skill to pouring seascapes on one of our: side tables, serving trays or even your very own wall art piece. 

The course duration is set at 2.5 hours. This is ample time for you to arrive, receive a briefing and get your coasters coated in a seascape. We will allocate an additional 90 minutes for anybody that wishes to do another pour on any of our additional products we have in stock on the day. After the class you will be able to buy your very own resin kit to take home and start the next step in your resin journey. 

**Upgrades **
Optional additional products can be made after the coasters and include side table, 2x additional coasters, serving trays. Prices for upgrades vary depending on stock available on the day.


**GROUP CLASSES**
This is also a fantastic class for hen-dos or groups of friends.

My second resin course at River Shop and while it recapped on some of the elements of the first course this was more focussed on resin art rather than resin casting which was covered in the beginners epoxy resin workshop. New techniques were demonstrated and practical applications explained and then we were issued with resin and left to create our own 'masterpieces' - go easy with the resin, it needs to go a long way as there are four coasters to cover. All in all a fun informative course which I would recommend to anyone wishing to get an insight into how to create resin based art.

I feel a little more structure to the day, and  perhaps signposting of expectations - a few more hints and tips on how to get effects.  Richard was friendly and welcoming, though at the start a simple "Hi, are you here for this workshop" was missing - a small detail but just sets the right tone from the beginning. 

Overall though, a really enjoyable workshop and I will be keen to further my use of this material and will look to book future classes.
